Post 3 by Phoenix (I'll do my homework...later.) on Tuesday, 24-Oct-2006 17:49:30

I like odd names and names that are uncommon. EX: Kyriaki, is Greek, and I like it a lot. Also, names with Y's and such (again, Kyriaki), but also Kyra. And for some reason, I like the names Kiera and Silver.
Also, I tend to get attached to names because of characters with those names. (EX: Tobias. I used to really like his character in the 'Animorphs' series. Don't ask why. Also, Kethia: a writer on www.fictionpress.com wrote a character by that name and she had to be my favorite.) :)

Jeremy, David, Lee, Allen, Andy
Melody, Rai.

Post 5 by DancingAfterDark (I just keep on posting!) on Tuesday, 24-Oct-2006 20:56:45

I second Alison's post. I like all the names she mentioned, except Tobias. That name's always annoyed me. But dude, Animorphs! Yes! And...I especially like Kyra.

As for others: Kristen (spelled with an E N, not I N), Heather, Serena, Kadria (yes, it's weird, I know...it's Meka's creation)...and for boys: David, Owen, Michael, and Garret, in spite of the one I know. :P

Post 6 by Phoenix (I'll do my homework...later.) on Tuesday, 24-Oct-2006 21:23:55

I knew a Garat once. He was cool..I still don't like the name though. Kristen is good--I like it. Kadria...Kadria I'm not sure about. It kinda depends on how it's pronounced. David is too common, for my taists...Owen is good, I don't really care for the English 'Michael' but the Spanish 'Miguel' is more to my liking.
I like the names Trista, and for some odd reason, Kiru.

Post 7 by Raskolnikov (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Tuesday, 24-Oct-2006 22:31:41

If I ever have a little boy, I'll give him the name Apolonio; but if it's a little girl, I'll name her either Sonia or Sofia.

Post 10 by Twinklestar09 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Wednesday, 25-Oct-2006 14:34:52

I like names that are unusual/uncommon and/or that have an interesting spelling/sound. Some of these names, especially those where I can't find official origins/meanings/variations 4 r from people I know with such names.
4 girls': Anastasia, Ayesha, Genie, Ismine, Jodici, Kerri, Layla, Leah, Madeleine, Mariah, Rebekah (4 Rebecca), Regan, Roxanne, Tyra, Xaviera.
4 boys': Chase, Dakarai, Dhawnae (pronounced dawnay), Enrique, Eugene, Eustace, Ezra, Hayden, Isaiah, Mikkeli, Morenike (not sure of pronunciation), Nehemiah, Reagan, Sean (s-e-a-n spelling), Ulysses (both this and the Spanish version), Zachary.

Note on the Dhawnae name: Not sure if it ends with "a e" or "e e", as I was told one and read the other, but I like the "a e" ending myself. That last comment really isn't anything important, it's just for whoever knows that person and happens to read this. OK. So anyways, there you go. *smile*

Post 11 by Phoenix (I'll do my homework...later.) on Wednesday, 25-Oct-2006 19:02:07

Tyra. I like that..and Enrique, too...I have a friend named Rebekah...
I like Katara (a mud name), Ara (a mud name) Atana (a mud name).

Post 12 by DancingAfterDark (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 25-Oct-2006 19:08:28

I have a friend named Rebecca, but I prefer the K A H spelling. Pretty name.

Post 13 by Phoenix (I'll do my homework...later.) on Wednesday, 25-Oct-2006 19:12:08

yeah. I like the K A H spelling better than the C C A or C A spellings. It's less common and ..yeah.

Post 18 by Phoenix (I'll do my homework...later.) on Tuesday, 02-Jan-2007 21:16:32

Yosheka? I love that...and I've always wondered how to pronounce Niamh...(the prononciation I read didn't exactly, ah, make sense..) Tarvren and Yekka, for girls, (don't ask. Long story). Kiana and Tihana (I don't know what Kiana means but I think Tihana means ..um, something to do with water)...
And I like to combine names to make other names (E.G: Asheryn, combining the names Aderyn and Ash to make the name meaning something like "Fire bird"), and Lindyn...For boys I like Pipin (Someone's been reading LOTR...sorry), Leo, (Has to do with something written on www.fictionpress.com/~muteddragon in the story called Runaway)...I'm sure to come up with more later. LOL.

Post 19 by DancingAfterDark (I just keep on posting!) on Tuesday, 02-Jan-2007 22:20:49

Kiana is a pretty name. And for something slightly more common, I think Lili Marie is the cutest name just about ever.

Post 20 by Phoenix (I'll do my homework...later.) on Tuesday, 02-Jan-2007 22:23:59

Lili Marie? Like that one, too.

Post 21 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 03-Jan-2007 0:10:33

It's amazing how if you like a person or character with a specific name, you get attached to the name. But if you don't like a person with a specific name, then you don't like the name. For example, I don't like the name Amanda. Not because of the name itself, but almost all the Amanda's I've known in my lifetime have been bitches.

I love the name Crystal for a girl, or Alexandra. Yeah, that one's long, but oh well. For boys, I still tend to like the more...regular names, I guess. Michael, Mark, John, that kind of thing. Garrett is a good name. I also like the name Connor, but it's got to be spelled with an O, not Conner, with an E.

Post 22 by Phoenix (I'll do my homework...later.) on Wednesday, 03-Jan-2007 15:48:34

that's true. ..Like Crystal-because I once read a story called Crystal and I got attached to the name because of the character. But then I've found that's not always true-I was reading Protector of the Small, and there was a character named Joren who I really didn't like, but I still think the name is kinda cool.
I like the name Tyesha...(and who, I wonder, would ever name their kid 'Deja'? wow..)

Post 23 by medical queen (This site is so "educational") on Wednesday, 03-Jan-2007 17:21:06

Post 26 by Phoenix (I'll do my homework...later.) on Wednesday, 03-Jan-2007 20:37:35

Alexis and Bryan I like...I like alicia, too. (and to my first post, the one concerning Kyriaki: I said that the name is greek, which I don't think is exactly true-it's origin is Greek. Just to clarify..) I like the name Cristen, or Krysten...
for my postly supply of uncommon names: Suresha and Nimesha (Shur-ay-shuh and Nuh-mee-shuh). I think they're indian names. the two people I know named Suresha and Nimesha are from Sri lanka (SP?)

Post 27 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 04-Jan-2007 1:52:34

Phoenix, I wouldn't name a boy Artemis. Anyone who has any knowledge of mythology would pick up on the fact that Artemis is the name of agoddess. I'm not meaning you, I'm sure you already know that. I just wouldn't want the poor kid to get made fun of.

And, HeavyMetalGirl, it's ironic you and Phoenix talk about the name Alicia. that is my name, spelled exactly that way.

the most interesting name I have ever heard was someone who named her son after a character on Star Wars. This child was named Aniken Lucas. Oh, wow....

Post 28 by Phoenix (I'll do my homework...later.) on Friday, 05-Jan-2007 20:18:24

yeah, I do know that Artemis is the name of a goddess....Aniken? Yikes...
